"Nazi Bund" operating in New York City, where they were ordered to blow-up the Hindenburg. By doing so, Hitler believed he could scare the West from considering Hydrogen as an alternative fuel to oil. Hitler's plan worked, and to this day the world believes the myth that Hydrogen is not safe as a fuel. In my intriguing novel, I show how to inexpensively produce Hydrogen, this most abundant of all elements, as a way to cheaply satisfy the world's energy demands. Hydrogen facts:
•All those scenes in the movies where a car flips over and bursts into flame, that's ordinary gasoline, not hydrogen.
•On the first row of the periodic table, Hydrogen is shown as being fifteen times lighter than air, and twice as light as helium.
•Did you ever watch a helium filled balloon lift to the sky when a child lets go of the balloon? Next time as you comfort a sad toddler, imagine a balloon twice as buoyant in air, filled with hydrogen.
•Because Hydrogen is so light, it disperses upwards very quickly. It doesn't burn like gasoline. If you watch a video of the Hindenburg fire, you'll notice how the giant ship burned hydrogen for only 30 seconds as rescuers ran to the scene almost immediately.
•Here's a startling fact: 62 out of 97 passengers on the Hindenburg survived the disaster on May 6, 1937, many of them relatively unharmed. The ones who died either fell, or were
burned by dripping diesel fuel.
•Hydrogen is not poisonous when it burns. Firefighters will tell you that the dangerous part of a fire is the fumes, not the flames. All petroleum fuels are asphyxiates—poisonous to humans. Hydrogen releases no toxic compounds, just water.
•When hydrogen burns, it actually cleans the air around it! Any hydrocarbons that aren't completely combusted will get combusted in the presence of burning hydrogen.
Hydrogen won't burn unless it's highly concentrated.
